Christmas Dinner: The Festive Monthly Report of Global Friends
Written by Albert

On Saturday, December 15, 2024, Global Friends, a student volunteer community affiliated with the International Affairs Cooperation Office (IACO) at Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU), held its monthly report event with a festive Christmas Dinner theme. The event, simply titled "Christmas Dinner," celebrated the warmth of the holiday season by blending formality with holiday cheer.

This tradition, now in its second year, brought members together in a heartwarming celebration of progress, creativity, and camaraderie. The event’s focus was not only on reporting the achievements of each team but also on sharing the joy of Christmas in a cozy and spirited setting.

The spirit of Christmas was palpable from the start, as members arrived dressed in their festive best. Outfits ranged from classic Christmas sweaters and Santa hats to costumes inspired by holiday characters. One participant, Joice, shared her excitement: "I decided to dress as a Christmas elf inspired color because it’s my favorite of the season! It’s so much fun to see everyone’s creative ideas for their outfits."

The evening began with updates and progress reports from the three main divisions:

  1. PRCM (Public Relations and Content Management)

  2. TDTA (Talent Development and Acquisitions)

  3. FGL (Finance Governance and Logistics)

Following the reports, the event transitioned into the more relaxed and festive segment, starting with games such as "Cups Stack" and a "Cups Balloon" challenge. These activities filled the room with laughter and lively competition, bringing everyone closer together.

A highlight of the evening was the Christmas Dinner itself, featuring a delicious menu of Fried chicken, Macaroni sausage soup, Grass jelly ice, and other holiday favorites. The meal was accompanied by a heartfelt fruit, with members sharing their gratitude for the past year and hopes for the future.

To add a creative touch, the event featured the Cups Stack Challenge, where participants raced against the clock to stack and unstack cups in record time. The game brought out the competitive spirit of the group while encouraging laughter and camaraderie, making it a memorable highlight of the evening.

The evening concluded with a heartwarming Secret Santa gift exchange, where members exchanged thoughtful gifts and notes of appreciation. Isa, one of the committee members, expressed her joy: "The Christmas Dinner was such a perfect way to end the year. The games, the food, and especially the Secret Santa exchange made it so special. I can’t wait for next year’s event!"

Christmas Dinner 2024 proved that even routine events like monthly reports can be transformed into celebrations of creativity and connection. By embracing the holiday spirit, Global Friends successfully created a memorable evening filled with joy and togetherness. This tradition will undoubtedly continue, bringing even more festive surprises in the years to come.

What’s next for Global Friends? Another creative event awaits in the new year! Stay tuned, everyone!
