Valentine of Shared Love: Global Friends Monthly Meeting 2026
Written by Regitha
On Saturday, February 14th, Global Friends—the student volunteer community under the International Affairs Cooperation Office (IACO) at Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU)—held its monthly meeting celebrating Valentine’s Day. More than just a routine coordination session, the event brought together members in a space that felt both productive and genuinely fun through zoom meeting.
The meeting had two main goals: to review each division’s progress and to strengthen connections among members through the games that were brought by the committee (TDTA division). By mixing formal reporting with engaging moments, the event created a balanced atmosphere—serious when needed, but still relaxed and welcoming.
The energy in the room that day reflected the theme of the day: Valentine. Members are dressed in pink, creating a fun and lovely setting. The mood was filled with enthusiasm and positivity, showing how committed everyone is—not just to their roles, but to the community they are building together.
The meeting officially opened with welcoming remarks from the MC, Rebecca from TDTA, who guided all the sessions smoothly and kept the audience engaged. The agenda then moved into the presentation of progress reports from the President and the three core divisions: PRCM (Public Relations and Content Management), TDTA (Talent Development and Acquisitions), and SA (Student Activities).
Each division shared updates on their ongoing projects and future plans. PRCM highlighted their finished tasks and their next program on their article and feeds, TDTA discussed their tasks about monthly meetings, and SA presented updates on their events projects such as Winternational and Global Engagement I. This session allowed members to reflect on what had been accomplished and align their next steps in moving forward.
After the formal reports, the meeting shifted into more interactive segments. Members participated in encouraging teamworks sessions, creativity games, movie watchalong, all in an open and healthy communication. The activities helped everyone to step out of their usual routines and connect on a closer level.
The highlight of the event was “Secret Admirer”, where all the members were given time to fill in messages via a website that would be entered anonymously. Messages could be addressed to anyone and read out anonymously at the end of the meeting. This segment brought a fresh and memorable touch to the gathering. It reminded members that while Global Friends is built on responsibility and structure, it is also a space for friendship and shared experiences.
The session concluded with closing remarks from the MC who expressed appreciation for the dedication and active participation of all members. The meeting wrapped up in a positive note, in which everyone was motivated and ready for the next set of initiatives.
Our Valentine’s Day Monthly Meeting was more than just an ordinary monthly meeting. It was a reminder of why Global Friends exists: to grow together, support one another, and create meaningful impact. With renewed energy and stronger connections, the community is ready to take on upcoming projects and continue making a difference within and beyond the SCU environment.
Stay tuned for what’s next from Global Friends!
