Global Friends had made yet another creative monthly gathering by using Halloween theme and calling it Dino Demit (or as we can translate it from Javanese to English means Ghost Day).

Has Halloween been a fun culture in your country? Indonesia doesn’t have the so-called Halloween Day. Although a lot of kids in Indonesia don’t seem to understand the joy of dressing up, cosplaying, and getting candies & chocolates, Global Friends has made childhood dreams come true for its members!

Global Friends, the student volunteer society affiliated with the International Affairs and Cooperation Office (IACO) at Soegijapranata Catholic University, recently hosted a spooktacular edition of their monthly meeting, aptly named "Dino Demit." This distinctive gathering aimed to strengthen internal bonds among Global Friends members, fostering solidarity through a unique blend of Halloween traditions and creative camaraderie.

“My, Oh My! I can finally know what it's like to have halloween!” Veena, President of Global Friends exclaimed. “This is such a creative way to do monthly gatherings, I feel like this is my first time doing a monthly gathering that isn’t as boring as reporting and listening.” another member chimed in.

"Dino Demit" is not just a run of the mill meeting; it's an extravaganza where members come together to discuss organizational progress whilst celebrating the spirit of Halloween. One of the highlights of this event is the elaborate decorations featuring elements of Halloween traditions. From ghost accessories to spooky backgrounds, united under the Halloween umbrella.

“I just love the decorations they made! These truly have what 's called spooky vibes!” Bicho, one of the members of Global Friends who love designing and making content, praised highly of the decorations that were made.

As the meeting unfolded, Global Friends members enthusiastically embraced the Halloween theme, showcasing their creativity through a myriad of ghost themed costumes. Some uses ghostly costumes (Veena as Annabelle, Andry as Sundel Bolong, Tirza as Arwah Jahat, Andrew as Tuyul Ninja, etc), some uses anime costumes (Salsa as Sniper Mask, Lala as Asa Mitaka), some as characters we familiar with in fairy tales and movies (Joice as Red Riding Hood, Rebecca as Judy in Zootopia, Kiara and Aimee as Angels, etc), and even those who uses job-related costumes (Kevin as Thief, Putri and Rania as Doctors), and many others!

The gathering commenced with a ceremonial opening, where members joined in prayer (not directed towards spirits or ghosts). Following this sacred moment, division vice presidents presented reports on the progress within their respective divisions, ranging from Public Relations and Communication Management (PRCM) to Talent Development and Acquisition, concluding with the VP of Student Activities. The overall progress was reported as smooth and controlled, reflecting the commitment of each division.

Transitioning into the heart of "Dino Demit," members engaged in a spirited "Trick or Treat" exchange, sharing various snacks, candies, and treats. The event then took a spooky turn as participants shared their utmost scariest personal experience with ghost stories, immersing everyone in the eerie atmosphere of Halloween. Don’t we all love it when ghosts say “hi” to you?

To lighten up the mood, A Fashion Show was held to cheer everyone’s enthusiasm, where Global Friends members showcased their ghostly costumes and competed with each other in a friendly way. Following the lively festivities, the atmosphere took a chilling turn with a horror movie session on a large LCD screen, complete with high volume sound effects. This session added an element of tension and suspense, creating an experience filled with thrills and nightmares. Reminding us the catchphrase of this event, “Creepy? Huuuu~” It was thrilling to see how Global Friends members who were just laughing and smiling a minute ago became quiet and tense while watching scary movies!

Before ending the best monthly gathering ever done, members of Global Friends were faced with the spine tingling prospect of a tarot card reading session led by our fortune teller, Bicho, Global Friend's Manager of Content Management. “This is sooooo exciting because I- we could get a glimpse into the potential mysteries of our futures and the fact that most things Bicho told us that already happened or is related to us are correct, just send us the chills!” Global Friends truly outdid ourselves in this monthly gathering.

Shall we see what’s our next monthly gathering? Another creative event awaits… Stay tune, fellas!
